Linda Evangelista & New York Magazine’s 18th Annual ‘Reasons to Love New York’

New York Magazine wanted to celebrate the city’s return to spontaneity since the tumultuous times of the pandemic with a creative and wacky epically shot Where’s Waldo inspired cover. NYMag miraculously got 72 New Yorkers including Spike Lee, Linda Evangelista, and even Ice Spice to converge on the corner of Little West 12th and Washington Street. The daylong shoot was photographed by Pelle Cass, an award winning photographer known for his spectacular snaps of crowds. Editor Christopher Bonanos delves into the making of the cover and how photo director Jody Quon and her time undertook the enormous project.

Dutch born Moroccan-Egyptian star Imaan Hammam and her younger sister Aicha grace the cover for Vogue Arabia for the magazine’s December 2022 issue, closing out the fashion year on a high note. Although Imaan is in New York and Aicha in the Netherlands, the waste no time in catching up for Vogue Arabia, discussing their bond as sisters, Imaan’s impact on diversity in the fashion industry, Aicha and Imaan’s upbringing in the Netherlands and their love for their Muslim and Afro-Arab heritage. Aicha also shares her growing interest in becoming a model because of her older sister’s influence and how she’s opened up as a person.

“I don’t shy away from my roots or my culture,” Imaan comments. “Everything I do, I want people to know where I come from. I’m just so happy that it’s possible now, and that the door is open.”

The collection has 13 different colorful and creative pyjama sets and and sleep mask. One of the things I love most of the pyjamas is the witty name for the different sets like, “The Snuggly Poppies,” “Mix Business With Smoothie,” and “I’m Special.” Each pyjama set also has its own unique short story which range from the downright whimsical to heartwarming. Along with its fun creative designs, Karmen Pedaru’s pyjamas prides its products being made from 100% Mulberry silk which is regarded as the highest qualify silk in the world with a longer lifespan compared to other silk.

Karmen Pedaru Silk Quality:

  • 100% mulberry 22 momme silk produced in China.
  • Dyed in Shandong by Zibo Daranfang Silk Group Co. Ltd.
  • Both OEKO-TEX 100 quality standard certificate and verified by the SGS testing organisation.

I’m so happy for Karmen and this amazing venture. She’s such a phenomenal model. You can see the creativity and how well thought out her pyjama designs are with the accompanying stories.

Best Time Ever

The Snuggly Poppies

“My collection is a reflection of me. A reflection of my multiple personalities. Utterly feminine, yet wild and free. Bold and powerful, yet fragile and sensual. And occasionally a little child-like. Non-judgmental, witty and sarcastic enough not to take me too seriously.”
