Linda Evangelista & Fendi Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Baguette Bag

This is such an epic campaign and Linda Evangelista, Steven Meisel, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, and Kim Jones sound like a dream team. I still can’t believe this and I’m so happy with what Linda is doing with Fendi!

From WWD:

First introduced in 1997 by Silvia Venturini Fendi, artistic director of accessories and menswear, the Baguette has been the ideal  canvas for many creative iterations over the years, including denim, embroidered jacquard, sequined, fur accented, hand painted versions and even a scented one introduced in 2019.

The accessory ignited the “It” bag craze and is currently enjoying momentum like other bags from the late ‘90s and early Aughts, tapping into Y2K nostalgia.

Back in the days its popularity was cemented after Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in the hit series “Sex and the City” sported a sequined purple version. She returned to show her love for the accessory in 2019 when Fendi debuted the #BaguetteFriendsForever communication project.

Doutzen Kroes for ALAÏA’s Spring 2023 Ready-To-Wear Collection

Doutzen Kroes makes a wonderful surprise appearance at ALAÏA’s Spring 2023 Ready-To-Wear Show. Pieter Mulier as ALAÏA’s fresh and exciting creative director put on quite the display in Paris at the unfinished new store in Faubourg Saint-Honoré. For this collection, Pieter not only wanted to honor the late Azzedine Alaïa’s love for the aesthetics of the 80s glamazon but also his contemporary vision for for ALAÏA. Mulier drew inspiration from Azzedine Alaïa’s 1984 show which as Mulier puts it, “draping with viscose, and also draping in leather.”
