Happy Birthday Birgit Kos: Vol 1. Kos Cool! šŸ‡³šŸ‡±

Happy Birthday to one of the coolest people around, and an insanely talented model that I couldn’t imagine the world of fashion without, Birgit Kos! She’s already accomplished so much in her time and it’s always so exciting to see which campaign, collection or cover she’ll land on next. Not to mention, her friendship with Luna Bijl is the coolest. An all around amazing person and talent, who’s already left an indelible mark on many, here’s wishing you an outstanding birthday Birgit Kos!

Everything and always to me
Everything and always was she
Beautiful Alone
Beautiful Alone

I’m the fool the lights were on
Knock on the door I’m raising hell
I’m the fool I saw you cry
Knock on the door I’ll ring your bell

I remember stars above her
Scattered across this sky just for her
And how very much I loved her
Beautiful Alone

Check the passer-by with the headlights on
On the interstate, I’m heading east
On the way to a place where the sun shines
Where the concrete meets jungle green

I’m on the promenade with a passer-by
Puking up the parade and the scenery
But I’ve lost my way I’m in camouflage
keeping up the charade of an alibi

She took the funk out of my soul
My rhythm is bluesin’
I see the moods, that you been swinging over me
Climbing mountains we can climb together
I shed by standing in your way
Or is it the money that I can’t pay

I remember day first came in that room filled with sun rays
With gin-juice as intake, therefor the smiley faces
From these sliding, gliding, grinding ladies
That vaguely had me gaping like a spaceman looks at human faces
Then you got right, in the corner of my eyes
Getting rendered on my retina, printed, saved inside my memory card
With a rhythm for my heart, more than visibly off the charts
So heartfelt, that I dealt, all cards I held, smart
Though, really, guy like I, try to stay far from sacrificing
But that day I’d give my life to get a slice of those voluptuous thighs
Easily top five I’d ever eyed
With an effortless granted victory, only, mostly ’cause I
Got mesmerized, by your atlantic eyes
Who left me stranded like poetry when I dove inside
To read your constellations, looking for conversation
Mainly, maybe some fornication with your mind

What to say?
I guess that something changed
I guess when I met you
You’re my baby, baby

This love we share
Has got me insecure
Has got me fearing more
Has me really fearing more

Rest in Peace Patrick Demarchelier

“I like to photograph the positive way of life,” Mr. Demarchelier told The Times in 2016. “I like the beauty, the beauty inside.”

Highly celebrated, revered, and praised with a host of achievements like being named Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture, awarded the Founder’s Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and a Lifetime Achievement Award by CLIO, the late Demarchelier even served as personal portraitist of Princess Diana, where he became the first non-Briton official royal photographer!

As influential and sought after as Patrick Demarchelier was throughout his career, he was never formally trained as a photographer, yet with his simple and elegant portrait style of taking pictures he refined in his youth and a philosophy of spontaneity when capturing subjects, Demarchelier catapulted himself through his tenure at Vogue starting in the mid 1970s and beyond. Yet Demarchelier’s name would be forever cemented with his cover shot of Linda Evangelista for Harper’s Bazaar September 1992 issue with the tag “Enter the Era of Elegance.”

There was even an all out bidding war between Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar for the famed photographers snaps. With Demarcherlier’s rise, we too saw the rise of more supermodel and celebrity covers. As integral as Demarchelier was to fashion and pop culture, many remember him for his charm, his care and relationship with his subjects, and dedication.

You can read more about Patrick Demarchelier’s incredible life and career at The Guardian and The New York Times.
