Laetitia Casta for Madame Figaro’s 40th Anniversary Issue with Ellen von Unwerth

Barely a month since her 42nd birthday, the one and only Marianne of France herself graces the 40th anniversary cover of Madame Figaro! In her first post-quarantine shoot, Laetitia Casta discuses her indifference toward aging, being more at peace, her 80s childhood, and acting among other topics.

I’m just so happy for Laetitia Casta! Like Tom Brady and LeBron James, Laetitia Casta is still acting and modeling without even thinking of slowing down. It’s so wonderful Laetitia isn’t letting anything deter her from her creative endeavors. She inspires me so much and I think her cover for Madame Figaro is a sign for all the great things to come!

Age doesn’t matter to me and I find it unbearable to categorize things by trying to find the right formulas. I find it much more interesting to be resilient to time and to live in the present, because it allows me to move forward more slowly. Living in constant projection necessarily leads to an unhappy end, because it is life that decides, not us. Today, I feel good and I am less afraid than when I was 20 years old. Over time, you have to learn to live peacefully with yourself. We accept to be fragile, imperfect, and we tolerate our neuroses. Some of them are also vital, like my thirst for freedom.

The 1980s

I associate those years with the music and hits of George Michael and Michael Jackson, whom I listened to as a teenager. I love to dance and it’s the only thing that interests me when I go to a party: being the first on the dance floor and leaving the last. As for fashion, I don’t have any great references, because at that time, I was a child and I lived in the countryside in the middle of the forest. At home, clothes were passed between brother and sister. So I have no material attachment but I can talk about the seasons, the animals, and I always know how to recognize plants.

The Future

I am optimistic in nature and, as all previous crises have shown, the economy will eventually recover. However, I thought I was a homebody, the confinement made me realize that I needed to go out! (Laughs.) I even dreamed that I was breaking down walls … I still took advantage of this period of withdrawal to write and I plunged back into my intimate teenage diaries. The opportunity to discover that, finally, in twenty years, I had not changed so much!

Ask me anything with Doutzen Kroes | Hunkemöller

I caught the replay of Doutzen’s Hunkemöller farewell stream. It was so cool to see Doutzen Kroes this candid. She spoke about her life, fond memories with Hunkemöller, and answered questions from fans. Doutzen Kroes has to be one of the kindest, down to earth models around. She was always one of the bright spots about Victoria’s Secret and Doutzen sporting angel wings on the runway will always be one the coolest moments in fashion shows.

Doutzen really does feel like a blessing. You can tell the fans and bloggers who called in really adored her and you could feel the love. Hunkemöller with Doutzen really made something special and I’m glad both Hunkemöller and Doutzen could come to together to make a brand empowering to women. I think any brand would do well to have a Super Beautiful, Super Lovable, Super Dutch Supermodel as their ambassador like Doutzen Kroes♡

On Black Lives Matter

It was very important for me to be there because I feel like more than anything right now all I could do was go there and be there out of solidarity to all these people who are in so much pain and I feel like if that’s all I can do right now, to take this action, I want to do it with all my heart.

It’s very in important for the future of my children. I have a mixed race family. My husband deals with racism, my children might in the future. They’re very innocent right now. They have no idea yet of what’s going on and hopefully they will never have to deal with it. That’s why I was at the Dam Square

On Her Time with Hunkemöller

It’s nice to feel proud of all the trips I’ve made and the memories I’ve made and to actually have time to look back and reflect.

Her Love of Horses

There would be just some farmers who had a group of horses there. There were two girls, me and another girl and we would be the daredevils and just hold onto the manes and lift our legs and jump on the phrygian horses and then just take off.

Her Love for Dancing

I am a natural dancer and I love to dance

Aspirations

If I wasn’t a model, I think I would like to be a teacher, maybe something like social science or history. When I was starting to model and I was looking actually for something I would like to study afterward, I decided I wanted to become a teacher, but this never happened. And then, during this whole Covid-19 period that we were isolated, I really enjoyed homeschooling my kids. So yeah, that’s something I would have loved to been.

Love of Family

I’m most proud of my family, my two children and my husband. What they make me feel like is just incredible. It just makes me the most happy.

On What Makes Doutzen A Great Model

She’s one of the top models in the world. She’s super beautiful. She’s Dutch which I think for our brand is really important. But she lives our brand values. It’s been great working with someone that lives all of our brand values. And she’s beautiful both on the outside and the inside. – Philip Mountford, CEO of Hunkemöller
